Your first time clay shooting: what to expect

Walking onto a shooting range for the first time can feel daunting. It should not. Here is exactly what happens on a first visit to Clay Busters.

You arrive and sign in

Pull into our secure parking at 1 Tercentenary Way, Simon's Town, and one of our instructors will greet you. No license, no gear and no experience needed - just closed-toe shoes and a sense of adventure.

The safety briefing

Every session starts here. We show you how to hold and carry the shotgun, how to stand, and the simple rules that keep everyone safe. It takes a few minutes and it is the foundation of a great day.

Your first shots

We start with lighter loads and a fitted firearm tucked properly into your shoulder, so the recoil is a gentle push, not a thump. Most first-timers break a clay within their first few shots - and that puff of orange dust is genuinely addictive.

The moment you break your first clay, you will understand why 250+ people call this range home.

Ready to try it? Book a 5-shot taster and see for yourself.
